My inspiration and love of art comes from my family. My father who was a designer and artist, worked in many mediums- oils, pen & ink, pastels, watercolors. I have vivid memories of him working on his canvases. My mother was a quilter and taught me to sew. I made my first quilt at 9 yrs old.
I’m most attracted to color and texture and not the mechanics of sewing.
Fiber arts offers so many mediums to choose from.. way beyond traditional quilting. I discovered wool felting while looking to make sweater Christmas stockings. Old wool sweaters found and recycled became the new “fabric” to be cut and pieced into anything one could imagine….Along the way other things caught my interest, hand dying techniques, jewelry from Victorian buttons, photography, and the ultimate fiber – cashmere. The adventures of recycling and designing, what could be better!
